MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT
Sarah Carnathan: |

Hello RDDA Members!
Thank you for a great start to the 2004 – 2005 year of RDDA! We had a terrific turnout for the
September meeting on Celiac Disease and enjoyed sampling gluten free products from Whole
Foods Market. To all who have joined us, welcome and thanks! Applications for membership
are still available on our website: www.raleighnutrition.org
As Thanksgiving approaches, a goal of the RDDA is to reach
out and serve the community. The US
Census Bureau reveals over 2,100 people are homeless in Wake County. Statistics show that the number of homeless
women and children has doubled since 1989.
To aid in hunger relief, we will be sponsoring a food drive in
cooperation with the Interfaith Food Shuttle.
Please help us by bringing non-perishables or canned goods to our
November 16th meeting.
A big Thank you to those who participated in the World Food Day “Yam Jam Gleaning Party” on October 16th. Individuals helped in harvesting leftover fall crops in Smithfield that was transported to local food assistance programs.
Please feel free to contact me at any time with comments, suggestions, or ideas for RDDA. I look forward to seeing you at the November meeting.
Enjoy the beautiful North Carolina Fall!

titled “Blue Cross to Fund Fight Against Fat.”

patients who choose not to schedule nutrition counseling once they learn that
it will not be covered by insurance. The move by Blue Cross Blue Shield, she
adds, “…will save lives and money.”
